Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie w/ Matcha
God, this is so good and sneakily full of healthy shit. It taste like chocolate covered blueberries but is packed with spinach, hemp seeds and matcha powder (and taste is completely masked).
Matcha is a concentrated powder made from green tea leaves that, to me, tastes like spirulina. Y’all know how a lake or a pond full of algae smells? Well, that’s what it tastes like. It has a seaweed // algae flavor that takes some getting use to. That isn’t a taste that bothers me so much (I’ve gotten use to it) but it can be off-putting to people who haven’t. It’s also a great caffeine substitute. It provides me with sustainable energy so I’m energized all day but I don’t suffer from that God awful mid-day crash.
And when you’re buying matcha, look for it in it’s pure form. Some matcha powders are blends with sugars and what not. You don’t want that sugar crash nor do you need it. Now, here’s what you came for:
Ingredients
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen spinach
1 frozen banana
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1 teaspoon matcha powder
1 serving chocolate protein powder (If you don’t have chocolate protein powder, whatever you have will be fine. It’ll just taste like whatever powder you use — vanilla blueberry, blueberry cookies and cream, etc.)
12oz of liquid (Y’all know I use water)
Put it in the blender, spinach first, and blend. Enjoy!
